Principal's Message
Welcome to White Rock Elementary School!
Our names are Tanya LaBass and Nereida Cabrera. We are so happy to be your principal and assistant principal at White Rock Elementary School. White Rock Elementary is a safe and engaging school where we empower diverse students to thrive academically and socially.
As your administrative team, we are focused on creating an engaging, warm and welcoming school community. As a school site, we strive to make connections with all our students and to value them as the unique individuals that they are. We are committed to foster classroom learning environments where students are supported and provided with everything they need to be successful. We offer additional programs and supports throughout the day, such as What I Need (WIN) and English Language Development (ELD) to meet the academic and language needs of our students. In addition, we provide many layers of socio-emotional and mental health supports such as PBIS, Check In Check Out, Academies, Special Friends, and 1-1 counseling. As a Community School, we are also committed to supporting ALL the needs of our students and their families. Our goal at White Rock Elementary is for all students to learn and grow to meet their full potential.
You are your child's first and best teacher. Research shows that the most important aspect in a child's success in school is a high level of family involvement and support. The following are some ways to be involved in your child's education:
-
Make sure your student is attending school daily.
-
Have your student go to bed at a reasonable time each day.
-
Talk with your child every day about specifics of what is going on at school.
-
Have your child read daily.
- Be available to assist with homework as necessary and check homework after it is done.
-
Provide a work area for your student and support the development of good study skills.
- Communicate high expectations to your child and encourage perseverance.
- Proudly display and share your child's work and progress with friends and relatives.
- Attend and participate in school activities as much as possible, including parent/teacher conferences.
- Volunteer in one of our many programs or a classroom if your schedule allows.
- Keep in close touch with the teacher and communicate, communicate, communicate!
- And most importantly... let us know how we can best meet the needs of your child.
Thank you to our amazing White Rock Elementary PTO for their efforts in planning school events! We encourage every White Rock family to become involved in the PTO as it will be one of the best ways to connect with the Pony Express community.
We hope to partner with you in this important work and value your input in your child’s educational journey. We love our students, and it is a great honor to be a part of your child’s life. If we can be of help, in any way, please feel free to contact any one of us.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Tanya LaBass Mrs. Nereida Cabrera
